🐾 Desktop Pet
The WiseMindAI Desktop Pet is a lightweight companion that stays on your desktop. It does not replace the main window—it lets you open WiseMindAI, jot down ideas, check background tasks, or add a bit of company to your workflow without breaking focus.
When it helps:
- You are reading, writing, or organizing materials and do not want to keep switching back to the main WiseMindAI window.
- You want to capture a thought, question, link, or something to follow up on.
- You want a clearer reminder while background tasks are running.
- You like keeping WiseMindAI at the edge of the screen so you can bring it up anytime.
Turn on the Desktop Pet
- Open WiseMindAI Settings → Desktop Pet.
- Enable Enable Desktop Pet.
- To show it automatically whenever WiseMindAI starts, enable Show on app launch.

Once enabled, the currently selected pet appears on your desktop. Drag it to the screen edge or anywhere it stays out of the way.
Use the context menu
Right-click the desktop pet to open a shortcut menu. By default it includes:
| Menu item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Home | Open the main WiseMindAI window |
| Quick note | Quickly capture ideas or content |
| Wait | Put the pet in a waiting state |
| Hide | Temporarily hide the desktop pet |
| Background jobs | Open the WiseMindAI background tasks window |

Background task status
When WiseMindAI is running background tasks, a task hint appears next to the desktop pet—up to two tasks at a time. You can see:
- The current task name.
- Task status, such as queued, running, progress, completed, or failed.
- A count hint when there are multiple tasks.
Click the hint to open the background tasks page; you can also dismiss it if you do not want to see it right now.

Switch pets
Go to Settings → Desktop Pet → Pet list and choose the pet you want. WiseMindAI ships with several pets; your selection applies to the desktop pet window.
The list labels pets as:
- Default: Provided as the default WiseMindAI pet.
- Built-in: Bundled with the app.
- Custom: Pets you imported yourself.

Import custom pets
If you have a desktop pet package that follows the Codex format, you can import it into WiseMindAI.
- Go to Settings → Desktop Pet → Pet list.
- Click Import pet.
- Drop a ZIP archive or a pet folder, or click to choose files.
- After import succeeds, select it in the pet list.
The package should include:
pet.json
spritesheet.webpA spritesheet.webp at 1536×1872 with an 8×9 frame grid is recommended. The free plan allows up to 2 custom pets; members have no limit.
You can also download and import new pets from Petdex.
